need a quick win? here are my favorite job searching tools

1. Canva

I use Canva for so many different things in business, job applications, and social media graphics. I call it “the graphic design platform for non-graphic designers.” It’s a great, user-friendly tool to create eye-catching yet simple application documents.

2. Google Docs

Obvious, but I prefer having my clients create resume drafts and ATS (Applicant Tracking System)-friendly documents and federal resumes through Google Docs. This way, they can receive feedback on their documents via the comments and suggestion features, download as a PDF, and their resume is always a few clicks away.

3. The Ultimate List of Outdoor Job Boards

I never want you to spend hours scrolling through Indeed again. If I had to pick one, single resource to have had at the beginning of my career - it’s this. Your one-time purchase of the Ultimate List of Outdoor Job Boards includes over 60 industry-specific job boards, completely color-coded and categorized by sector.

4. Word it out

Word It Out will help you create a word cloud, which is a great tool to help job seekers identify top keywords throughout a job listing. It rarely pulls out every important keyword or skill (just the most frequently used) but it’s a great starting point!

5. job board email notifications

When you receive email notifications from your favorite job boards, you take the “search” out of job searching (hallelujah)! The week’s hottest jobs will be delivered straight to your inbox and you barely have to lift a finger. Start by signing up for the Career Outdoors email newsletter for a quick win! Every Tuesday we’ll slide into your inbox with valuable career advice and a round up of the industry’s coolest open positions.
