Career Outdoors helps mission-driven outdoor lovers turn their passion into a paycheck by providing industry specific resources, strategies, and advice to help people create careers they love in outdoor and environmental sectors. We want the brightest people in positions that connect communities and help our planet - and we don’t think that a confusing hiring process should be holding you back.
We believe that career advice needs to be industry specific, especially for an industry as unique as this one, and we love helping brands, companies, and job seekers find success in the hiring process.
Career Outdoors aims to shake up the career coaching and professional development worlds by providing resources that are action-based and won’t make you fall asleep at your desk. In fact, we want you to spend as little time at your desk as possible. Let’s do this.
hi! i’m olivia!
Founder of Career Outdoors and the Women in Outdoor Work community. I graduated college in 2015 with a four year degree, pile of student loans, and no clue how to land a job in my field. I was working in a restaurant and absorbing every piece of career advice I could find, all while my inbox was overflowing with job rejection letters. Fast forward a few years, 6 different towns, 7 seasonal positions; I finally found myself leading hiring teams and gaining insider perspectives on the entire hiring process.
With this newfound knowledge and a few lightbulb moments, I began creating the systems and strategies to be successful within my own career. I set out on a mission to create community among other outdoor professionals and share the industry specific advice that was changing my life. Since 2020, these resources have helped over 150 women and nonbinary individuals land outdoor jobs through Women in Outdoor Work.
I’m an eternal optimist and am known for having a solo dance party every time I receive a celebratory “I got the job!” message. I also love Flavor Blasted Goldfish, slow trail runs, and being your biggest cheerleader. I’m on a mission to get more people hired and connected with jobs they love, all while building a community of passionate environmentalists and outdoor lovers.
